The majority of car
insurance claims made by women are for
relatively minor accidents when compared to their
male counterparts.
On average, women
drive shorter distances, have lower mileage and
often drive more cautiously than their male
counterparts.
|
That's why
numerous insurance companies are emerging
specifically targeting the female driver.
Many car insurance
companies will offer cheaper deals for women;
however they still have to factor males into the pot
of money they set aside for claims. Consequently, car
insurance companies have started to emerge which
deal only with female customers. These companies
believe that they can give the benefits back to the
drivers through cheaper car insurance quotes
and premiums. Female policyholders can
even insure males as named drivers. The advantages
also apply to young female drivers with some
companies offering young driver insurance to
17+ females as opposed to 19+ males, which, in
turn allows young women to be fast tracked for
their no claims bonus.
Why Women Car
Insurance Costs Less?
In recent years there
has been much discussion about the cost of women
car insurance and whether car insurance
companies are discriminating against men.
Women car insurance
tends to be cheaper, particularly for young women,
simply because female drivers are considered a lower
risk by car insurance companies. This is
because women have different driving habits to men.
Statistics show that
although women drivers have a similar number of
accidents to men, they tend to be less serious and the
value of claims are much lower, this is reflected in
the cost of women car insurance.
On the whole, women
tend to drive more slowly, carefully and shorter
distances than men, giving them less opportunity to be
involved in a major accident.
The statistics
gathered by car insurance companies are backed
up by Government findings that over 88% of convictions
for driving offences in the UK are for men and men are
found responsible for 96% of all convictions for
dangerous driving.
